What to wear for your Session – TIPS
As you get ready for your upcoming photo session it is important to dress accordingly so that you accent your photos and not distract from them. Here are a few tips to help you decide what to wear for your session.
Coordinate but don’t be too matchy matchy.
Start with a basic color palette and go from there. One person wearing a pattern while the others are in solids is a good way to add variety to your photo without being overwhelming. If a person has a pattern in their outfit you can then draw from those colors to create the rest of the groups outfits, pull accessories, and keeping their simple. You can accomplish this with a neutral color & a few bright colors or try a softer option with ranges of the same shades.
Pick out a few color pops to coordinate between people when working with soft tones or neutrals. It tends to be easier to find a few main pieces in women’s and girl’s clothing, so start with those and build the boy’s outfits around it. Coordinate your outfits but don’t match. Offering a variety of similar colors with a pattern or two will allow for optimal photo enhancements. Just make sure none of the colors clash with the others. Add interest to the photo with a headband piece or hat. Using a single headband on one person and a pattern on another person then coordinating the colors to the pattern allows for the ultimate coordination in colors.
Accessorize, galore!
Scarves, hats, flowers, jewelry, sweaters, vests, jackets, etc. all of these items can take an ordinary good picture to a fabulous great picture. It makes it feel “complete”. Don’t overdo it and overwhelm on the accessories, but as in the picture above there is a headband, a jacket, and some jewelry.
